Rail Track Formation Multi-Year Package

The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) engaged Abergeldie to deliver track formation packages across the Hunter Valley. With an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) agreement in place, Abergeldie priced and scoped over fifty project sites as part of a package of works within ARTC’s two-year program of maintenance and upgrades, and emergency works. Abergeldie was awarded a significant volume of work, with multiple project sites within each possession. This track formation package will ensure public transport safety and efficiency for communities across the network.

Scope of Works

Complexity

Some preparatory works outside the Danger Zone were carried out mid-week adjacent to live rail traffic, but the bulk of works could only be carried out during strictly scheduled weekend rail possession conditions. To take maximum advantage of the limited available time during possessions, works during these periods were programmed on an hour-by-hour basis and closely supervised to ensure on-time hand-back. Works were completed on budget and ahead of schedule.
