• Replacement of the sludge removal system in the four sediment tanks
• Assembly and installation of the MRI hoseless Cable-Vac sludge collector system, including electrical control panels
• Supply and installation of electrical and communication cables
• Design, supply, and installation of rake guide rails
• Installation of a common sludge outlet pipe per sedimentation tank with mass flow meter
• Extension of service water system to four new hose-down connection points
• Automation development, integration, and commissioning
• Remedial works in the sedimentation and flocculation tanks and appurtenances

Particular care is being taken during the removal of existing components, piping materials, structural elements, and repairs to waterproof joints as the old sealant material is known to contain asbestos.

Additionally, hydro-blasting is being used to expose dowels at the footing of the tank floor slab joints so as to determine the full extent and nature of repairs required.

The Grahamstown Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade forms part of Hunter Water's Growth Plan that supports the region to become the leading regional economy in Australia by 2036. Hunter Water provides drinking water, wastewater, recycled water, and some stormwater services to a population approaching 600,000 people in homes and businesses across the Lower Hunter. The Grahamstown Water Treatment Plant can treat water from Grahamstown Dam and/or Tomago Sandbeds. The plant has a peak supply capacity of 257 megalitres per day, making it their largest water treatment plant.
