Abergeldie is proud to announce that the Lennox Bridge Portals Project has been selected as a finalist in the “Mindful Movement” category for this year’s Banksia Sustainability Awards. Abergeldie submitted the award competition entry in partnership with City of Parramatta, Hill Thalis Architecture and Urban Projects Pty Ltd
The Mindful Movement category recognises demonstrated leadership and achievement in implementing sustainable and innovative ways of reducing environmental and social impacts associated with the transportation of people and/or goods.
The Lennox Bridge Portals project involved construction of two access portals through the abutments of the State Heritage listed Lennox Bridge over the Parramatta River. A clever and historically sympathetic design combined with innovative, sensitive and adaptive construction methods resulted in an outstanding outcome for the community and historians alike. The construction process revealed some unexpected archaeological finds which were incorporated as a design feature in the fit-out of the tunnel interiors.
Winners will be announced on Wednesday 30 November. We wait with bated breath to see the results on Wednesday!
