Broadmeadow Station Upgrade

The Transport Access Program will provide integrated transport infrastructure to the community, accommodating forecasted growth in demand for accessible public transport. Through a collaborative framework, Abergeldie and Transport for NSW (TfNSW) delivered the Broadmeadow Station Upgrade project. This upgrade includes modern infrastructure designed and constructed with greater focus on accessibility, prioritising equal access for individuals with additional needs or limited mobility. Scope of Works

Complexity

Meticulous planning of work during weekend rail possession periods, involving two shift teams working around the clock, to complete excavation and piling for construction of the lift wells.

Electrical demand created by the new lifts necessitated the construction of a new electrical substation, and corresponding conduit connections, which run underneath the rail tracks and that were installed using directional drilling.

To achieve minimal disruption, whilst ensuring public safety, the work periods were carefully staged to allow concurrent public access and work on the station platforms, the station entrance and pedestrian tunnels beneath the track.
