“Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness. But it doesn’t have to be that way. This year I’m taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to raise money for the St Vincent de Paul Society to support Australians in need. For one night, I’ll be sleeping outside as part of an eye-opening experience to raise awareness and bring home the realities of homelessness. – Mark
About Vinnies St Paul
The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is a one night event that helps the St Vincent de Paul Society support Australians all year long. Vinnies advocacy, education, counselling and housing programs are designed to tackle the root causes of inequality.
Every Little Helps
Homelessness can affect anyone at any time. The Australian Bureau of Statistics has found that over 116,000 Australians are experiencing homelessness. Of these, 60% are under 35, 44% are women and 13% are under 12 years old.
As little as $55 will help feed a family for a day while $505 can help provide emergency accommodation for a family in crisis. Since 2006, the CEO Sleepout has raised millions of dollars for the cause and have been able to help tens of thousands of Australians. The funds will be distributed throughout the year to help the homeless and hidden homeless.

CEO Sleepout 2020
In Australia 2020, those experiencing homelessness were facing additional difficulties brought on by COVID-19. Vinnies responded to the crisis by hosting the CEO Sleepout in a COVID safe environment – allowing participants to sleep outside their house, in their car to help raise funds. Last year, Mick Boyle, Founder and Executive Chairman, participated sleeping on his sofa. Read more via this link.
