Friday 15th August marked the 20th anniversary of civil contractor Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure. The anniversary was marked by a gathering of Abergeldie’s clients and partners at the Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney. “20 years of building better communities was the theme for the celebration,” said Abergeldie’s Managing Director, Mick Boyle.
Mick took the opportunity to thank clients and Abergeldie staff for their role in helping the company reach the 20 year milestone. “Our customers have been great, with repeat business the norm rather than the exception to the rule,” said Mick.. “More than 80% or our work has been from repeat customers over the past year. It’s a testament to the skill and dedication of our team. We are always striving to exceed client expectations”.
When asked, “What are the main things that have contributed to the company’s success?” Mick answered, “At Abergeldie we are focused on ‘building better communities’. I think the community we have built that we should be most proud of is the Abergeldie community itself. We have a team of clever, hardworking people who care about what they do and how they do it. And they look after the people they do it with. We have recently coined the term ‘the Abergeldie way’ to describe the team and how they work (although ‘the Abergeldie way’ has been here since the very beginning)”.
“It just makes work so much more enjoyable when you are surrounded by good people, doing good work and you have the support of the team around you”.
Abergeldie also works to build better communities by supporting organisations like Vinnies, Oxfam, and WaterAid that do important community building work to support those less fortunate.
The company is also an avid supporter of Sustainable Business Australia “We think the business community has a responsibility to the greater community for the responsible management of the environment and our limited natural resources,” said Mick.
What’s next? Mick answers, “20 years of success in construction is a great achievement and one that we are proud of. But it is only the beginning. It is a platform. What I am really excited about is the future and the opportunities we have at Abergeldie as a result of what we have achieved and learnt, the processes we have developed and the people we have gathered over the last 20 years.”
“We are currently looking at sewage treatment plants in Regional NSW (yes we do get excited about these things) large diameter, deep mine ventilation shaft projects overseas, tunnels in Melbourne and Auckland, railway stations in Sydney, pipelines and structures in central Australia, dams in Queensland: all complex projects, all particularly suited to our Abergeldie teams. All of those projects can help to build better communities. That’s a future worth working for,” said Mick.
